Prevención del Cáncer Cervical y de Mama

AXION

Lack of knowledge about uterine cervical and breast cancer and the stigmatization of the women that submit to detection tests, have resulted in those being two of the most lethal forms of cancer in the country. Economic impact analysis has demonstrated that the average of healthy years lost by a Mexican woman due to uterine cervical cancer is of 22 and the amount saved by preventing death by cervical uterine cancer of each Mexican woman is of $42,000 USD.

The monitors on our cancer projects work towards establishing a core of knowledge on cervical uterine and breast cancer among the participants, dissipating myths related to these illnesses and providing tools for making decisions on sexual health. The monitors simultaneously encourage the women to take the Papanicolau test and educate their partners on the importance of allowing their women to attend their gynecologist, which they commonly oppose due to the inherent exposure required. The women who have participated in our cancer programs have demonstrated a significant rise in their knowledge on the subject and show a greater disposition to adopt preventive measures against the illness than before the course.
